a private civil ceremony garden elopement
Elopements are really gaining in popularity, as more and more couples decide to opt out of having a big celebratory occasion and recognize that they want to have a truly private and intimate ceremony, by being married with no-one else present but themselves. So it was an absolute joy and honour to be asked to capture Canadians Tyler and Jennifer’s elopement, knowing that it was going to be just the two of them and me!
They had their civil ceremony in Gibraltar’s stunning Alameda Gardens, which for me has the incredible knack of looking so very different every time I am there. The flowers, plants and colours change constantly and it seems what goes unnoticed one week, is in full bloom the next. And with the afternoon light there being so exceptional, you can see why I could never get bored of shooting weddings there. There is always something new that catches my eye!
Initially, as is natural, Tyler and Jennifer were both worried about being the centre of attention, seeing as it was just the two of them, it would have been hard not to be. However, I was really pleased that they felt so at ease with me, almost forgetting I was there at times, simply enjoying their day. I was able to capture the natural happy moments for them to take with them and share with friends and family back home.
That is the wonderful thing about elopements. Because the couple gets to be 100% focused on each other and relaxed in their own company, in Jennifer and Tyler’s case, it allowed for some fantastic opportunities for fun and personal photos, which really showed off their adventurous and free-spirited nature.
